I saw this quote on Instagram the other day and shared it. It’s so true, for everything!
Yesterday I wrote about my nutrition and fitness regime and the fact is I know plan my meals and my activity, it’s planned and written down so I stick to it…more or less.
How do I address things in my work life? How do I deliver lessons? How do I develop the department and area? How do I bring about change and new initiatives? How do I keep maintain current initiatives? I make a plan, me and the staff decide what we want to do, we make a plan, we write it down and we stick to it adapting and changing appropriately as we go along the way.
So why am I not doing this in my personal life? Why are a lot of us not doing this? It saves the excuses, it saves the negativity and the nothing ever changes. If you keep doing the same things nothing ever changes, nothing ever gets better and you’ll stay in the same rut of situation.
Many of you may know or have been asked to contribute to my 40 things before I turn 40 well this has become a plan. I’ve treated myself to a posh notebook and I’ve started making a plan. It’s exciting, friends have come back with Total Warrior challenges, girls trips away to Ocean Beach in Ibiza, dress making and charity ball planning! I’ve a snowboarding lesson to book and who knows what else? It’s so exciting and it’s making me focus on enjoying life, I’ve made a plan, I’ve written it down and I’m sticking to it. I’ve 6 years to get these 40 activities done so I’ve written down the 40 people I want them to come from, asking them all in waves and phases and making notes in my notebook as I go a long. It’s what I want to do, it’s a plan and I’m sticking to it! Once it’s in the book, there’s no going back!
I’ve also made a bigger plan for me and toddler P. Every year we will go to at least one place that neither of us has been before, whether that’s a little village in the next town or a holiday to the other side of the world, at least once every year we will have an adventure and the two of us will visit one location we’ve never been. It could be a museum, a zoo or anything! But it’s a plan and our adventure. I’ve also got a book for this plan too, my friend bought me a photo album/scrapbook for my birthday and it’s in the style of the Disney’s Up! our Adventure book, so it’s mine and little P’s adventure book, it’s our plan, it’s our story!
It can be anything we decide to do, but once you make the conscious decision that you want to make a change, plan it, write it down and then there’s no going back.
I used to think when people said to write down your goals, they were talking rubbish, but now I’m at a stage in my life where I want things to be different and better so here I am, making a plan and writing it down. I’m setting goals and writing them down. It really is that easy!I’m finally listening to the PHSCE lessons and motivational speakers my students have and I’m actually setting goals and making positive changes.
So decide on what you want to do, write it down, make a plan and then bloody well do it!
